A polished palette. The large living room in this DC Design House (Washington, D.C.) exudes elegance with a deftly played palette that keeps all parts of the space in harmony. A tasteful mix of icy blue, ivory, yellow, white, and khaki creates the polished look.
Exposed beams in a living room. While it‘s normal to see a fair bit of color in traditional living rooms, an all neutral space like this one is more than acceptable. And while a lot of frills and details are also often found in traditional rooms, they are not mandatory. This room, designed by Markalunas Architecture Group, is more demure than most traditional spaces, but still fits in thanks to the architecture, materials, and symmetrical furniture arrangements.
His eye for quality is revealed in his treasured old Lucite chair, Eames-style white leather armchair, and Frank Gehry cardboard chair, all of which mingle with his own clean-lined designs. Traditional toile draperies from Duralee and ice-blue walls set off the elegant mix.
Sand plus sea–glass cozy beach style. Sandy colors of light beige create this beachy living–room ooze comfort. Notice how the rug and walls plus couch also coffee table are all tones of the same hue, generating a ´soft‐harmony´. ´Contrasting’ sea green plus white components are added in the form of throw‐pillows also wall‐art set upon a ornamental ledge. A gray pad with picture frame lend a pacifying calm to the space.
