Shades of blue in the living room. Just because a room is traditional it doesn´t mean it can´t still have one or two modern pieces. A mid century modern sputnik chandelier is the perfect addition to this traditional living room from VV Design. It creates contrast and adds an element of urban cool to this elegant space.
Sterling design, Dove gray and attention to detail create serene sophistication in the living room of this Connecticut home overlooking Long Island Sound. “I didn’t want a beachy home so we went with dark floors and classic details,” says the owner, architectural designer Louise Brooks.
Farrow & Ball’s “Skimming Stone” is painted on the walls, while the wood comes clean in the venerable paint company’s “All White.” Silver-gray cocktail and side tables pick up the thread of color from the room’s gray-and-white striped Elizabeth Eakins rug, while the furniture remains calm in white upholstery fabrics. Even the accessories on the fireplace wall’s shelves are pared down for importance. Most notable is the pair of antique lanterns on the middle shelves.
Many little living‐room ideas rotate around 'tricking the eye' into making the space appear more roomy. Such policies can transform a space that feels 'confined' also 'claustrophobic' into one that feels comfortable plus aesthetically pleasing. Adorn in a way that maximizes light also area plus pay notice to how you use color, scale with burden. It can construct quite a differentiation.
