Furniture displaying can be ticklish in a little space. If your area doesn´t easily permit for a little sofa plus a pair of chairs and consider a scaled–down ’sectional‘ alternatively. Although they’re bigger than a single couch, little sectionals create ideal sense for a cramped area by offering as much seating as a separate sofa plus chairs but in a smaller footprint.

Traditional style is often associated with grand spaces, but there‘s no reason why a smaller space can‘t be decorated in an elegant, traditional way. This room has very high ceilings but not a lot of floor space, so designer Amanda Carol substituted a coffee table for two stools, used large scale art to balance out the window, and incorporated tall millwork over the mantel to draw the eye upwards. The result is a somewhat small space that appears much grander than it really is.

Farrow & Ball’s “Skimming Stone” is painted on the walls, while the wood comes clean in the venerable paint company’s “All White.” Silver-gray cocktail and side tables pick up the thread of color from the room’s gray-and-white striped Elizabeth Eakins rug, while the furniture remains calm in white upholstery fabrics. Even the accessories on the fireplace wall’s shelves are pared down for importance. Most notable is the pair of antique lanterns on the middle shelves.
